As companies increase their usage of mobile tools in the workforce, biometric authentication could become a common tool for enterprises, reports ZDNet.
Biometrics is already helping the problem of security in the digital world by being a second factor in the authentication process. With companies relying on mobile devices–and increasingly BYOD policies–for getting work done, mobile biometrics could help with making sure the right people have access to a company’s system.
Many companies are hoping to grab share in the mobile biometrics market by leveraging different modalities. EyeVerify is beta testing software that verifies people by their eye veins. Passban uses face recognition and voice verification to authenticate a user in its Passboard product.
Experts believe that mobile biometric authentication is going to become more prevalent in the near future, but adoption rates will likely depend on cost and its ease of implementation in multiple locations.
