McAfee, a division of Intel, is launching a cloud authentication program that leverages face and voice recognition as factors.
As reported by Computerworld, the product is called LiveSafe, and it will offer customers 1GB of online storage in the cloud. Users can access it via tablets, smartphones and PCs, and they’re authenticated into the system by facial recognition, voice or a PIN.
To increase security, McAfee has collaborated with Intel to make the biometric aspects of this product related to antitheft and identity protection options in laptops powered by Intel chips.
LiveSafe runs on both Android and iOS. On PCs, the biometric authentication only works if the computer has a webcam and an Intel processor. Macs don’t support all biometric methods with this product. In cases where biometric authentication isn’t supported, users can input PINs for verification.
The product costs $79.99 for a yearly subscription. Customers who buy new PCs can get the service for $19.99 for their first 12 months and $79.99 a year thereafter.
